India is the largest producer of malaria-resistant drugs hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and chloroquine (CQ) in the international market. India is the largest market for the export of hydroxychloroquine drugs worldwide.

There has not been any antidote to the worldwide pandemic coronavirus so far. Already, medicines for Ebola, malaria and AIDS have been applied to corona patients in different countries. In view of this, physicians from various countries including China, the United Kingdom have claimed that corona patients are recovering from hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine.

In this context India has extended its support to neighboring countries in the fight against coronavirus. India is sending chloroquine drugs as gifts to Bhutan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Myanmar and Mauritius and to also African countries.

Recently US President Donald Trump proposed to buy 35 lakh malaria resistant hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) drugs from India. When Modi responded to his proposal, Trump praised Modi with a big sigh. Other countries, such as Canada, Brazil, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, have also decided to import from India to keep sufficient stock of hydroxychloroquine drugs. India has even agreed to supply hydroxychloroquine drugs in these countries.
