‘Fight against corona staying at home is the pledge of Mujibnagar Day’

Fight against the novel coronavirus staying at home is the pledge of Mujibnagar Day this year. Meherpur Deputy Commissioner(DC) Ataul Ghani called for this on Friday (April 17).

He made the call on historic Mujibnagar Day celebration on Friday (April 17). This day of oath taking by the first exiled government of Bangladesh is being celebrated through a brief functions owing to the outbreak of corona at the historic Mujibnagar Mango grove.

The DC said, "All of us, all over the country, have come down from our respective position of the fight against corona. We will surely win in this struggle. Through continued economic progress, we will be able to realize the dreams of the valiant freedom fighters who fought for this country.

He mentioned that Mujibnagar Day is celebrated every year with due dignity. He added, "Like the whole world, our homeland Bangladesh is infected with Covid-19 virus. As a result, all government programs have been restricted. '

On the occasion, he remembered all of the 71 swearing function including the Nation’s father and four national leaders.

The day started with the 31 gun salute in the morning. The DC Ataul Ghani and the Superintendent of Police SM Murad Ali placed floral wreaths at the memorial altar. The national flag was hoisted and ‘Munajat’ was offered with the national anthem.

On April 17, 1971 the first provisional government of Bangladesh was sworn in at Vaidyanathtala (now Mujibnagar) under Meherpur. Under the leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the liberation war was fought and nine months of severe battle Bangaldesh was achieved. In order to preserve the various memories of the War of Liberation, a memorial site has been constructed at Mujibnagar at the place of oath, the map of Bangladesh in the liberation war complex, along with murals of important people of the war of liberation including the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu. Visitors from all over the country come here all year long.
