Maintaining social distancing in the ongoing corona situation, Md. Atiqul Islam took over charges as the Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation for the second term.
Acting Mayor Jamal Mostafa officially handed over the reins to her at 12:45 pm on Wednesday (May 13). DNCC chief executive officer Abdul Hye was present at the time.
Atiqul Islam won the post of Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation for the second term of the election held on February 1. Earlier, on the death of Anisul Haque, the first mayor of DNCC, Atiqul was elected as the mayor for the first term in the by-election held on February 28, 2019.
During that tenure he served as Mayor for about a year.
