The genetic mystery of the novel coronavirus, which has caused panic in the world including Bangladesh, has been successfully unveiled for the first time by 3 organizations jointly including DNA solution.

The other two government institutions are the DRICM of the BCSIR of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Central Police Hospital. Scientists are hopeful that this ground breaking discovery will take Bangladesh one step further in corona vaccine production.

Coronavirus, also known as Covid-19, has already claimed the lives of more than 300,000 people around the globe, including in Europe and America. Of these, more than three hundred people have died in Bangladesh, more than twenty thousand have been infected and this number is increasing rapidly day by day. It is seen that the death rate of this virus is increasing or decreasing in different countries. Many are recovering with the rate of infection and the severity and moderation of the illness in various countries.

Expert physicians and scientists said this is due to the fact that the virus has a genetic predisposition. Therefore, it is very important to unravel the genetic characteristics of the virus in order to make an effective vaccine. With this in mind, DNA Solutions Ltd. started working jointly with two government organizations. The DRICM of BCSIR of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Central Police Hospital conducted a joint study of more than 150 patients with corona in the country. DNA Solution Ltd, a private lab in Bangladesh, has already achieved a groundbreaking milestone by successfully unveiling the entire genome sequencing of 5 viruses of Covid-19 through their Amplicon based next generation sequencing system which is the first in Bangladesh. Genome sequencing of the remaining viruses is also expected to be completed in the next few days. Uncovered genome sequences of corona viruses have already been received from the International Gene Data Bank (GISAID) Bangladesh. Jabed Iqbal Pathan, Managing Director of DNA Solutions Ltd. has already congratulated Architect Yafes Osman, Minister of Science and Technology for his overall support and encouragement in a difficult task like unraveling the genetic mystery of the first corona virus in Bangladesh through the latest Amplicon based Next Generation Sequencing.

Dr. Md. Fazle Alam Rabbi, Coordinating Scientist, DNA Solutions, DNA, Bangladesh, Assistant Director Mala khan and DIG of Central Police Hospital hoped that the pharmaceutical industry in Bangladesh will successfully move forward in the production of anti –corona vaccine from the nature of the disease.

Besides, Mizanur Rahman, chief executive of renowned pharmaceutical company Nipro ZMI Pharma and North South University professor Dr. Kazi Nadim Hassan and Dr. Abdul Khaleq played an important role in the study.
