Amphan getting weaker

The strength of cyclone Amphan in the southeastern Bay of Bengal and the adjoining southwestern Bay of Bengal has decreased. The cyclone has now dropped from category four to three. Ampan is no longer a super cyclone now.

At the same time, the wind speed of the cyclone center has also decreased. Within 665 kilometers of the center of the cyclone, the wind speed is 200 to 220 kilometers per hour. However, the sea is still very rough near the cyclone center.

The cyclone has come a little closer to the coast of Bangladesh. It is located 65 km from the coast. It can cross the coast of Bangladesh between late night on Tuesday (May 19) and Wednesday (May 20) afternoon or evening through the area between Khulna and Chittagong.This information was given in the special notification No. 26 of the Meteorological Department on Tuesday (May 19).

It is further said that the super cyclone Amphan, which is located in the West Central Bay and adjoining areas, has moved north-northeast and is currently located in the same area. It was located 665 km south-west of Chittagong seaport, 640 km south-west of Cox's Bazar seaport, 640 km south-southwest of Mongla seaport and 675 km south-southwest of Payra seaport at 3 pm on Tuesday.

In this situation, Mongla and Payra seaports have been asked to show danger signal number 7. The coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalokati, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barisal, Laxmipur, Chandpur and their outlying islands and chars will be under danger signal number 7.

On the other hand, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar seaports have been asked to display danger signal number 6. The coastal districts of Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar, their outlying islands and chars will be under danger signal number 6.

The coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalokati, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barisal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong and their adjoining islands and chars have been affected by the cyclone and the new moon.The whole area might be flooded.

During the cyclone, Satkhira, Khulna, Bagerhat, Jhalokati, Pirojpur, Barguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barisal, Laxmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chittagong districts and their remote islands and chars with heavy to very heavy rainfall along with strong wind blowing at 140 to 100 km per hour. Due to the cyclone, all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay and the deep sea have been asked to go to safe shelters immediately and stay in safe places until further notice.

On the other hand the field administration has arranged evacuation of the people from the vulnerable places of the coastal and charlands of the Southern Bengal.
