United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Friday (May 29) called Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over phone and greeted her on the occasion of the International Day of United Nations (UN) Peacekeepers.
The UN secretary general phoned the Prime Minister on Friday and extended heartfelt greetings to her (Sheikh Hasina) marking the International Day of UN Peacekeepers today, PM’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim informed.
The day was observed on Friday in Bangladesh as elsewhere of the globe in a befitting manner.
The theme of this year’s day was – “Women in Peacekeeping -highlights their central role in our operations”.
May 29 is International Peace Keepers day. The day is being observed from 2003 remembering the supreme sacrifices of the Peace Keepers. In a joint proposal of the Peace Keeping organization of Ukraine and Ukraine government on December 11, 2002 the 57/129 proposal was adopted.
