Capital city back to normalcy despite corona panic

Coronavirus infections are on the rise across the country. People are panicked for fear of corona. However, the government has decided to keep everything open to a limited extent to keep the livelihood and economic condition of the people active.

Dhaka has the highest number of corona infections and deaths in the country. Even after the holidays normal life and activity is returning to the capital. Large number of people returning to Dhaka flooding the important roads, bus terminals, railway stations and launch terminals to enter the city.

On Sunday (May 31) morning in the office area of Motijheel area, the picture of people running with high speed was seen. Large congestion of people and transport were also seen in Shapla Chattar area. Meanwhile, crowds of working people have been spotted in Gabtali, Farmgate, Shahbag and Matsya Bhaban areas. Types of small and big shops and sidewalks have also been seen.

On the return of huge people in the capital city, the Assistant Commissioner in charge of DMP West Traffic Zone told Barta24.com that people gathered in Gabtali, Mazar Road and Mirpur areas in the morning. There pressure of rickshaws, CNG and private cars were on the road. He also said that if public transport is introduced from next Monday (June 1), there will be more busyness on the roads.

Meanwhile one or two buses were seen plying in Basila, Mohammadpur and Dhanmondi areas. But after talking to the drivers and assistants of those buses, they said they had taken the bus down the road for trial. People returning home from work in the afternoon were also seen in these areas.

Meanwhile limited number of launches and trains started operating from Sunday but long-distance and local public transport will start operating from next Monday. From that day onwards the city dwellers think that the capital Dhaka will get back to its full normalcy.
