Prime Minister and Leader of the House Sheikh Hasina has said that she is not afraid of death from coronavirus. Man is mortal. When I was born, I must die one day. We can die in corona, we can die by being shot, we can die by being bombed, we can die by getting sick or we can die by talking. So where death is inevitable, there is nothing to fear from death. I have never been scared, never. I did not come here to survive. I have come to give my life for the people of Bangladesh.

She made the remarks while participating in a discussion on the condolence motion on late Habibur Rahman Mollah MP on the first day of the 8th session of the 11th Jatiyo Sangsad (JS) on Wednesday (June 10) afternoon.

Earlier, Chief Whip of the Opposition Moshiur Rahman Ranga advised the Prime Minister to run the parliament from home.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, when I came back to the country Bangladesh where my father was killed, my mother and even my younger brother Russell were not spared. Abul Hasanat Abdullah's wife Sahan Abdullah has died. She sustained three bullets on August 15.

Many of our family members were shot. Those murderers were not tried then. They have been given indemnity. They were in power, war criminals, they were in power then, I came back to the country in that situation. If I was scared I might not be able to come to life anymore. But I was not afraid. I believe that God has given life and God will take it away one day.

The Leader of the House said, Allah gives people some work, that work must be done. As long as Rabbul Alamin in writing has entrusted me with some tasks, I will continue to work. May be I will keep working until that piece is over. When the time is up I will leave too. There is nothing to worry about. Many countries are not able to give the budget in the parliament during this disaster. I did not say I will deal with one side. Besides, I will do what I can for the people so that they can live a normal life and not suffer. I did not come here to survive. I have come to give my life for the people of Bengal. So it has nothing to fear. What is scary? That's what I think. Let us all pray to God to save the human race from this coronavirus.

The Prime Minister said everything has been closed because of corona. However, those who are working regularly are different. Apart from this, there are some people who live on daily earnings. They all became unemployed by running small businesses. We are arranging some money at home to deliver food to their homes with the news of each person unfed. We have helped people of different orphanages, mosques, different classes of people and even the people who do art behind rickshaws or cultural activists or journalists to find something officially and everything they need from our welfare fund.

I have already instructed the Information Minister that many of the artists who work may know him but the hands behind the artists are hands that no one cares about, she said. Of course, this is not my own, my younger sister Rehana has asked those who are helpers of the artists to find out them and provide relief. There are some things just like this that people don't notice. I am trying to alleviate the suffering of a large number of people who remain invisible in the society. I am trying to deliver something to them, to cooperate with them. That is our effort. I have set up a separate fund in each district so that a person does not suffer without eating. I have made arrangements so that everyone gets cooperation. It has taken different steps in different ways not according to the rules.

The Prime Minister said no one from the family was coming to bury the corona-infected people when they die. Then the leaders and workers of our Chattra League stood by their side. Humans have human qualities. Wherever one's relatives left, the leaders and activists of our own party, the leaders and activists of Chattra League, have this humanity inside them. That's why I'm so optimistic.
