Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stressed on building green belts by planting trees in every part of the country and said that, I will ask every one in the country including the leaders and workers of our party to plant at least three saplings.

The Prime Minister made the call through a video conference from Ganobhaban at the inauguration ceremony of the tree planting program organized by Bangladesh Krishak League on Monday (June 15) afternoon.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the Father of the Nation wanted to improve the lives of the blacksmiths, potters, fishermen and weavers of this country by changing their fortunes and giving them a better life. He wanted to make Bangladesh free from poverty and hunger and build it as a developed country so that the Bengali nation stands tall in the world. Bangladesh is a delta. Surviving and improving in this delta is a very difficult task. Natural disasters have to be dealt with constantly. Extensive tree planting is required to save the delta.

She said those who came to power after 1975; If we talk about this Dhaka city, all the trees were cut down. There were Krishnacura trees in the whole area from Tejgaon to Bangla Academy. There were huge trees in different places. Every place in Dhaka city was green with trees.

Whenever Ziaur Rahman became the President he cut down all the trees from Tejgaon area to Bangla Academy. He had a fear that is why he cut off trees. Thus trees were destroyed all over the country by them but we plant trees because nature must be protected.

The Prime Minister said, we have to build a green belt. If we can make a green belt around the whole country, we will be protected from storms and tidal surges. I will tell the leaders and workers of all the organizations including our Krishak League to plant three trees each. But planting sample is not enough but you must have to take care of the tree. Now I want to see who has planted how many trees. We have to see what fruit is grown in the trees. The Prime Minister directed to plant fruit, timber and herbal plants. The Prime Minister mentioned about planting one crore saplings across the country.

She said that the theme of this year's World Environment Day was 'Time for Nature'. Time is very important for nature. We are working in an environment where the whole world is paralyzed by coronavirus. As all types of traffic are closed, similarly people's life is also stagnant. There are many deaths due to corona, which is very sad for us. The loss of human beings in the coronavirus has a good aspect also. Pollution grabbed the nature. The natural balance was lost. We are in lockdown for 3 to 4 months after the coming of corona. As a result, nature has laughed and played. It is filling with green, it is filling with flowers. But it is also a game of nature. River pollution, sea pollution, sky pollution, everything seems to be getting clearer. Along with all the bad aspects, I am also getting a good work signal.

Sheikh Hasina said the supply of nutrition should be increased. Moreover, a crisis has occurred around the world due to corona. Agricultural production must be increased so that there is no shortage of food. Modern technology must be used in agriculture. The world is moving forward. We want to move forward with the use of advanced technology in every field.
