Money bill-2020 gets nod of Jatiyo Sangsad without any major changes

The Jatiyo Sangsad (JS) passed the Finance Bill 2020 on Monday (June 29) without any major changes. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal proposed to pass the bill. Later, when the speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury voted to pass the Finance Bill 2020 in the JS, it was passed by voice vote.

The bill was placed on last June 11. The tax proposals of the new budget will be implemented through the passage of the budget. The budget for the new fiscal year (2020-21) will be passed on Tuesday (June 30). It will take effect from July 1.

Earlier, members of the treasury and opposition benches in the JS placed amendments on various parts of the budget. Pir Fazlur Rahman MP, Kazi Firoz Rashid MP, Mujibul Haque MP, Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali MP, Ali Ashraf MP, Mashiur Rahman Ranga MP placed several amendments on the money bill which were accepted by the Finance Minister. Those amendments were later passed in voice vote. These amendments included that there will be no change in the collection of money or change in any other sector in these amendments.

After a five-day break, the adjourned session of JS resumed on Monday (June 29) at 11 o'clock. Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury presided over the session. The adjourned session will begin at 11 am on Tuesday (June 30). Tomorrow, a budget of Taka 5 lakh 68 thousand crore will be passed for the 2020-2021 financial year. This will be the 20th budget of the Awami League government. This budget is also an attempt to turn around and recover the economy devastated by Covid -19 pandemic. Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has called upon all to come forward to implement this budget. At the same time, he said, by implementing automation system in revenue collection, we will show that by implementing the budget again, we are able to implement such a big budget.
