Detective Police(DB) of DMP interrogated the Director General of Health Prof. Dr. Abul Kalam Azad and Additional Director General Prof. Dr. Nasima Sultana on suspicion of their involvement in the fraud of JKG Healthcare. It may be mentioned here that Prof. Abul Kalam Azad submitted his resignation last Tuesday(July 20) evening amid huge criticism of making the health services totally ineffective along with mass corruption. The interrogation lasted for three hours.
DB sources said that during the interrogation, the two senior officials of the health directorate claimed their innocence. However, in addition to their interrogation, it has been reported that 2/1 people including one more senior officer have been interrogated.
They were interrogated on Wednesday (July 22) afternoon at the directorate office by another officer with the rank of Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Detective Police Golam Mostafa Russell.
DB Joint Commissioner Mahbub Alam confirmed the matter to Barta24.com.
Earlier, police officers entered the health directorate at around 3 pm. However, the detectives did not find the newly submitted Director General Abul Kalam directly in the office.
Sources further said that the police went to the health directorate to talk to the two.
Earlier, during the second round of remand, the chairman of JKG Dr. Sabrina Arif Chowdhury and CEO Ariful Haque Chowdhury admitted that two senior officials of the health directorate were involved in the contract approval and forgery of their sample collection.
