Health Minister Zahid Maleq said the government would decide in consultation with the National Technical Advisory Committee on whether the Chinese vaccine would be introduced in the country or when.
The government is also keeping an eye on the effectiveness of vaccines produced in different countries, he said. The government will take such a decision which will be good for the country.
He made the remarks at a media briefing at the Health Ministry's own office at noon on Wednesday (July 22).
In the briefing, the health minister answered various questions of the media personnel. Asked when the new director general of the health would join, the health minister said, the director general of the health directorate, Prof. Dr. Abul Kalam Azad has submitted his resignation letter to the Public Administration Secretary. As he is a Grade-1 officer, the Ministry of Public Administration will take necessary steps to accept his resignation. When the file from the public administration comes to the Ministry of Health, work will be done to appoint a new director general. Besides, the government is forming a new strong task force. The task force will look into whether there are any irregularities in the country's hospitals, clinics and other medical institutions.
Asked whether the director (hospital) of the health directorate was being transferred, the minister said, It is not just the director hospital branch, the government will take strict action after scrutinizing the other branches that have been criticized the most.
