Fifty seven thousand employments created in a month in BSCIC

In the last one month, the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) has started 313 new industrial units in the industrial estates along with creating employment opportunities of 75,590 people.

In the current corona situation, 3,214 out of 5,164 industrial units in 72 BSIC industrial estates are in operation. Out of 6,36,553 people, 4,22,985 people are working in these units.

The information was disclosed at the third meeting of the committee formed on Wednesday (July 22) to monitor the compliance of health rules in the BSCIC industrial estates in the Corona situation.

BSCIC director at the virtual meeting Khalilur Rahman presided. The representative and Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Industry Nepal Chandra Karmakar, Joint Inspector General of the Department of Inspection of Factories and Establishments (Health) Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, President of BSCIC Industrial Owners Association Mohiuddin Sheikh and other senior officials of BSCIC took part in the webinar.

The meeting also provided detailed information on hygiene compliance in industrial estate factories obtained from BSCIC regional offices. According to the information received, production activities are continuing in most of the industries of the industrial city following the health rules prescribed by the government. As a result, it is possible to keep the uninterrupted supply chain of daily necessities active.

The meeting urged the concerned officials to continue production following 100% hygiene rules. In this regard, it was directed to intensify the monitoring activities at the industrial estate level. At the same time, it recommended to ensure the use of thermal scanners in all industries and to take appropriate steps to enhance the immunity of the workers.
