Ziauddin Bablu is in eternal sleep

Jatiya Party (JPA) General Secretary Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu was laid to rest at the Mirpur Martyred Intellectuals graveyard.

He died at 9 am on Saturday (September 2) at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital's Shyamoli area. He was 66 years old at the time of his death. His body was buried at Mirpur Shaheed Buddhijibi graveyard after Janazah prayers at Azad Mosque in Gulshan on Saturday.

Earlier, the body of Ziauddin Bablu was kept at the Jatiya Party's central office Kakrail premises from 1pm to 3pm. There the party leaders and workers paid homage to him. Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu was admitted to the hospital on the night of September 6 after contracting coronavirus. He was once taken to life support due to other physical complications including shortness of breath.

On July 26, 2020, he was appointed as the General Secretary of the Jatiya Party by the Chairman of the party GM Quader. This was his second term as the General Secretary of the Jatiya Party.

Earlier, in April 2014, Ziauddin Bablu was made General Secretary removing Ruhul Amin Hawladar by late Jatiya Party chairman Hussain Muhammad Ershad. He was removed from office in January 2016 on charges of breach of discipline. He was elected a member of the Jatiyo Sangsad in 1986, 1988 and 2014.

Bablu was a meritorious and brilliant student leader of Dhaka University in the seventies. He was elected as GS of DUCSU. Apart from Ershad's Energy adviser and Education adviser, he was also the Minister of these two ministries for some time. Bablu, a resident of his village Kadalpur in Raozan, Chittagong, was born on 31st December 1954.

Farida Sarkar, a government official, got married to Bablu in 1983. Farida Sarkar died of cancer in 2005. She did not get married for a long time thinking about his only son Ashik. Later in 2017, he got married to former President Ershad's niece.
