General Secretary of Awami League and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has claimed that the statement of BNP leaders about the enforced disappearance is devoid of reality and baseless.

Obaidul Quader commented that BNP leaders are continuously lying about disappearances and murders in the hope of gaining the mercy of foreigners. Obaidul Quader said that efforts are being made to blame the government for the disappearances and murders that have occurred as a result of BNP's infighting and conflict.

He said these things in a statement signed by Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua on Thursday (August 31). He condemned and protested the 'false and fabricated' statements of BNP leaders on religion and kidnapping.

Obaidul Quader said that after Chattogram BNP leader Jamal Uddin went missing, his responsibility was put on the government. But later it was found that Jamal Uddin was disappeared by his party's leaders and workers due to the internal conflict of BNP, which was published in the media. Similarly, after the disappearance of BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed, efforts were made to blame him on the government. Later it was found that he was hiding in India.

He said that even in the case of the disappearance of BNP leader Ilyas Ali, a senior leader of BNP said in his speech that Ilyas Ali was disappeared by BNP people, which was later circulated and published on social media. BNP is making a false statement about the disappearance and blaming it on the government in the international arena to gain political advantage. But the story behind the drama of their disappearance is not unknown to the countrymen today.

He said that the military dictator Ziaur Rahman, the founder of BNP, occupied the state power unconstitutionally and illegally through assassination-coupt-conspiracy. Ziaur Rahman started the politics of disappearance in this country. Mahfuz Babu, then general secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan Chhatra League, was murdered due to his political ideology during the dictatorship of Zia. His body was not found by the family members. Chattogram Jubo League leader Maulvi Syed was brutally killed.

He also said that Ziaur had killed hundreds of freedom fighter officers and thousands of soldiers in the army and air force in the so-called rebellion to consolidate his illegal power. Even the bodies of many of those army officers and soldiers were not found. Their family members still do not know where they are buried. Their family members are still waiting like crows of pilgrimage to get the last trace of the people lost in those incidents.

This leader of Awami League said that Bangladesh is moving forward on the path of development, progress and prosperity by facing mountain-like adversities and challenges by continuing the democratic march under the leadership of the successful statesman Sheikh Hasina. We are determined to establish a happy-prosperous safe, peaceful and welfare state for the next generation by building a developed and prosperous smart Bangladesh; Where equal rights of all citizens will be established and consolidated as per the constitutional provision.
