The medical board formed for the treatment of former prime minister and BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia has called a press conference.
This press conference will be held on Monday (October 9) at 9 am in the 11th floor auditorium of Evercare Hospital in Dhaka. This has been informed by the medical board.
Khaleda Zia is under treatment at Evercare Hospital for more than two months. She was admitted to the hospital on August 9.
Doctors said that Khaleda Zia is suffering from liver cirrhosis as well as kidney problems. One of the three blocks of his heart is stented. At various times her stomach watered. Then she needed to be taken to CCU. Besides, she has been suffering from various complications including arthritis, diabetes, high blood pressure, tooth and eye inflammation, heart disease. Due to which it is not possible to provide full treatment of Khaleda Zia in the country.
Sources of the medical board said that Khaleda Zia's health problems or symptoms are emerging and complications are increasing due to untreated underlying liver problem. They tried to prevent complications and new symptoms, so that the patient suffers less.
Doctors have been advising Khaleda Zia to go abroad for liver transplant for a long time.
According to the advice of the medical board, on September 25, Khaleda Zia's younger brother Shamim Iskandar applied to the Ministry of Home Affairs for permission to undergo treatment abroad. But the government rejected that request.
An angiogram in June 2022 revealed three blocks in his heart, and a ring was placed in one.
Khaleda Zia went to jail in 2018 after being convicted in a corruption case. When the covid-19 pandemic started in the country, the government temporarily released Khaleda Zia by executive order on March 25, 2020, following the family's request.
