BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir arrested by police and taken to court in an arson case. Police arrested him 9 hours after he was detained for questioning at 9:30 am.
He was brought to court on Sunday (October 29) around 8:30 pm. DMP Commissioner Habibur Rahman said that the BNP leaders and workers broke the conditions, killed the police, vandalized and arson yesterday by calling for a mass rally. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was arrested and taken to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Detective Branch (DB) Minto Road office for questioning in these incidents.
Earlier, the members of DB went to Mirza Fakhrul's house at around 9:30 in the morning and arrested him. His wife Rahat Ara Begum told reporters that police members went and talked to everyone in the house including Mirza Fakhrul Islam. Then they left with the closed circuit (CCTV) camera footage (pictures) and just 10 minutes later, the policemen came back and took Mirza Fakhrul.
