Dhaka: Constitution maker of Bangladesh and president of Gono Forum Dr. Kamal Hossain said that the students saved this country with their lives. They are working to change the country. The people of the country are working hard and increasing production. If everyone is united, we can save the country from corrupt people.
He said these things in the speech of the chief guest at a discussion meeting presided over by freedom fighter Mustafa Mohsin Montu on the occasion of the founding anniversary of Gono Forum at the Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club on Thursday (August 29).
Dr. Kamal Hossain said, we want the people to truly own the power. If you want to do fair politics, you have to convince the people that you are the guardians of the country, you participate in the elections. The looters have to be resisted; they have to be driven away.
Dr. Kamal said, I promised to do fair politics. We have been able to keep that promise. We are not sold to anyone. Many people questioned whether we can maintain our organization or not. But we didn't get elected with money; we didn't get elected by buying votes. After coming to power by buying votes with money, one has to run away. Why cannot stay in the country? Because people know they have the power to judge.
Stating that an incredible amount of money has been smuggled out of the country, he said, those who have smuggled money abroad are doing well but the people of the country have not improved. We are with those deprived people. People's politics is politics about the people.
Senior Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, the top leader of Gono Forum said, on behalf of all levels of Gono Forum's leaders, workers, organizers and supporters, on this auspicious day, in the presence of founder president Dr. Kamal Hossain I promise to remain united. The National Council of the Gono Forum will be held at the earliest.
Advocate SM Altaf Hossain, Dr. Md. Mizanur Rahman and others were present.
