Mahendra Singh Dhoni said goodbye to international cricket. India's World Cup-winning captain announced the decision on his Instagram on Saturday.

He made the announcement on August 15, India's Independence Day. Dhoni wrote on Instagram- ‘Thank you all for supporting me throughout my career. Get to know this post as an official farewell to international cricket.'

Dhoni had earlier retired from Test cricket. He was also not a regular in the T20 for India. This time he also said goodbye to ODI cricket. However, one of the best captains in the history of Indian cricket will play in the IPL.

Dhoni last played for India in the 2019 World Cup.

Dhoni made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in December 2004. A year later, he made his Test debut against Sri Lanka. Then a year later he traveled to the path of T20. The opponent was South Africa.

Dhoni was the most successful in ODIs. He scored 10777 runs. He scored 10 centuries and 73 half centuries in 350 ODIs. The wicketkeeper-batsman is one of the best finishers of all time in the history of cricket.

He played in 90 Test matches for India. There he scored 4876 runs at an average of 38.09 including 6 centuries and 33 half-centuries. His highest individual score was 224 runs. Mahi has played 98 matches in T20. He scored 1617 runs at an average of 37.60.
