Bangladesh suffered their second defeat in the World Cup. After England, Shakib Al Hasan's team had to lose to New Zealand by a big margin. At the end of the match, the team suffered an 8 wicket defeat.
Bangladesh lost the match at the beginning when opener Liton Das was out for a golden duck in the first ball. After settling down, Tanjid Tamim, Mehdi Hasan Miraj came throwing wickets. Nazmul Hossain Shanto returned before settling down. 4 wickets lost for 56 runs. Bangladesh could not handle that shock though captain Shakib, Mushfiq and Mahmudullah fought.
Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim's pair of 96 runs managed the danger. That pair, however, broke when Shakib departed for 40 runs. Then Mushfiqur Rahim took the path of dressing room by scoring 66 runs.
When Tawheed Hridyo departed, the team's run was 180. After that, Mahmudullah came to the scene. Standing there, along with Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman and Shariful Islam, he played an innings of 41 runs. Relying on that, Bangladesh finally stopped at 245 runs losing 9 wickets.
In response, Bangladesh was giving glimpses of a great fight by picking up the wicket of Rachin Rabindra in the beginning. But it disappeared after a while. New Zealand handled the initial shock with the bat of Devon Conway and Kane Williamson.
Shakib sent back Conway for the team's 92 runs. After that, Bangladesh could not hit any more in the New Zealand innings. New Zealand won the match by a huge margin of 8 wickets.
During New Zealand batting Shakib left the field with a hand injury completing his 10 over bowling quota. On the other hand Kiwi captain Kane Williamson also left the field while displaying clinical batting he got injured. He scored 78 valuable runs.
Later on both Shakib and Wiiliamson were hospitalized, according to reports.
