Cumilla Victorians won the challenge of Rangpur Riders by 186 runs in the final. Liton Das's Cumilla is one step away from a hat-trick of titles. Cumilla, the most successful team in BPL history, won by 6 wickets in the incredible duo of Liton-Hridoy.
Losing the toss and batting first, Rangpur lost 3 wickets within 27 runs and was in danger. However, they got a challenging collection in Jimmy Neesham's incredible innings of 97 runs with 8 fours and 7 sixes. Their score in 20 overs stood at 185 for 6 wickets.
Coming down to reply, Cumilla found Sunil Narine on the first ball. He was caught behind the opposite wicket while pulling Fazlhaq Farooqui's short length ball. However, Liton Das and Tawheed, who dropped to third, handled the shock of defeating Narine with the fortitude of the four-time champions. These two batsmen scored 61 runs in the power play.
Liton-Hridoy’s power hitting kept Cumilla moving forward with great power. Both of them picked up fifty by making an umbrella for the bowlers of Rangpur. 143 runs came from the pair of Liton-Hridoy for the second wicket. This is now Cumilla's biggest pair record in BPL. The duo broke when Shakib got caught in the palm of Abu Haider Rony's last ball of the 15th over. His 64 off 43 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes came from his bat before returning.
Liton was caught by Neesham at long on after scoring 83 runs off Sheikh Mehdi. The Cumilla captain completed the innings with 9 fours and four huge sixes.
However, before the return of Hriday-Litton, Cumilla was brought to the threshold of victory. Moeen Ali's 5-ball cameo of 12 not out runs sealed the win.
