Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hasan MP has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the sudden death of Bangladesh's famous chess grandmaster Ziaur Rahman. In his condolence message, the minister prayed for the soul of the deceased and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
In his condolence message, the minister said, 'Famous chess grandmaster Ziaur Rahman was an internationally renowned chess player of the country. He will be forever remembered for his outstanding contribution to the development of chess in the country as well as the entire sports arena. His death is an irreparable loss to the country's sports. I pray for the salvation of his departed soul.'
Minister of Youth and Sports, President of Bangladesh Cricket Board Mr. Nazmul Hasan Papon went to the deceased's residence in Mohammadpur shortly to console the bereaved family of Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman.
It should be noted that Ziaur Rahman, who won the Grandmaster title in 2002, was the second Grandmaster of Bangladesh. He earned the title of International Master in 1993 and Grandmaster in 2002. He is the second Grandmaster of Bangladesh. The grandmaster won the highest number of 14 titles in the open events of the National Chess Championship. Zia achieved the highest FIDE rating (2570) among Bangladeshi chess players in October 2005.
