Finally Farooq Ahmed's wish is being fulfilled. Chandika Hathurusingha's chapter ends as Bangladesh coach. On Tuesday, the president of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) himself told the media in Mirpur's Sher-e-bangla stadium that BCB is no longer keeping Chandika. BCB's new president Farooq Ahmed announced the suspension of Hathurusinghe in an official press conference.
Even though there are a few assignments of the national team, the board suddenly dismissed the coach! Farooq said, "Before the dismissal, we have given him a formal notice of showcause. He has been suspended for 48 hours. Then we will dismiss him. Coach Phil Simmons will continue until the Champions Trophy.
Hathuru had a contract with BCB until the ICC Champions Trophy at the beginning of next year. But before that, Farooq Ahmed's board ended the relationship with this high profile coach! This was his 'second chapter' as Bangladesh coach. The first time he left the job himself. BCB has sacked him in the second stint.
One of the head coaches is coming for the upcoming Test series against South Africa. Who is from the West Indies? The board has signed him till next year's Champions Trophy.
Bangladesh has seen both good and bad performances in recent Tests. Bangladesh won a historic Test series on Pakistan soil against Pakistan. Again Bangladesh lost the Test and T20 by showing extremely bad performance.
The reason for removing Hathurusinghe from the post of coach is given by the BCB as a reason for his misconduct and dictatorial role with the players rather than a fair judgment of the team's performance. There have been allegations that the coach misbehaved with spinner Nasum Ahmed during the ODI World Cup in India last year. In view of that complaint, BCB also conducted an investigation. It was alleged that coach Hathurusinghe misbehaved with spinner Nasum by pushing him on the neck.
Coach Chandika Hathurusingh's tenure with Bangladesh was until next year's Champions Trophy. But BCB dismissed him early.
In the second term, Bangladesh played 10 Tests, 35 ODIs and 35 T20Is under Hathuru. 5 wins and 5 losses in Tests. But in ODIs, 13 wins, 19 losses and 3 draws in 35 matches. Out of 35 T20 matches, 19 wins, 15 losses, and one draw.
