An outstanding 6-wicket haul by Shaheen Afridi has seen Bangladesh end their World Cup campaign with a mammoth 94-run defeat to Pakistan.

Shakib Al Hasan top-scored with 64 runs as the Tigers suffered a batting collapse to be 221 all out at the Lord’s on Friday in a chase of 316 to win, a target they had crossed twice before in this tournament.

Captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (15 off 14) in his farewell World Cup game hit two sixes to cheer up the crowd before being stumped off a Shadab Khan delivery in the 44th over to ensure the margin of defeat below 100 runs.

Liton Das was the second top-scorer for Bangladesh with half the runs Shakib scored.

Earlier, a tremendous bowling effort by cutter master Mustafizur restricted Pakistan’s ambitious batting line up within 315 runs losing nine wickets against Bangladesh.

A five-wicket haul registers Mustafizur’s name on the Lord's honours board with his second five-for the tournament. The ace pacemaker also moved his bowling character at 100-wicket takers club. He bagged 5 wickets giving 76 runs.

Bangladesh need 316 runs to seal their last match of the ICC World Cup 2019 campaign under the leadership of skipper Mashrafe.

All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin inflicted the first instance of damage on Pakistan's batting order as he took the wicket of opener Fakhar Zaman on 13, as Mehidy Hasan took the catch at point. Saifuddin then, picked up the wicket of in-form Babar Azam who was looking dangerous on 96.

Imam-ul-Haq, who scored a run-a-ball century to help Pakistan score a respectable total, knocked off his own stump while trying to flick Mustafizur off his back foot. Imam was closely followed by Mohammad Hafeez while trying to hit Mehidy Hasan Miraz, but ended up in the hands of Shakib al Hasan at deep backward square on 27.

Haris Sohail, out on 6, was caught at deep extra cover by Soumya Sarkar off a back of a length delivery outside off by Mustafizur.

Skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed retired hurt while Saifuddin bowled a brilliant yorker to get rid of Wahab Riaz.

Earlier, Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and sent Bangladesh to bowl first at the home of cricket, Lord’s, in London Friday in their last game of the 2019 World Cup.

Pakistan are technically out of the tournament as they have an almost impossible task to overcome the situation in their favor.
