Ross Taylor (74) carried New Zealand to 239 for 8 after play resumed on the reserve day in the first semifinal at Old Trafford on Wednesday (July 10).
In the 3.5 overs that New Zealand played, they scored 28 to lift their score from 211 for 5 as the sun welcomed both sides in Manchester after a damp and gloomy end to the previous evening.
With boundaries hard to come by, New Zealand were forced to risk the runs by running twos. Ravindra Jadeja, in the 48th over, got a direct hit from the square leg boundary to end Taylor's stay when they were pushing for 250. On the very next ball, Tom Latham clubbed a Bhuvneshwar Kumar slower ball straight to Jadeja at the mid-wicket fence to give India a shot in the arm.
India run into the field to bowl 23 balls, after a 20-and-a-half-hour delay. 11 from Bhuvneshwar, 12 from Bumrah. Presumably.
