Musician Subir Nandi is no more
Dhaka (Barta24.com): The legendary musician Subir Nandi is no more. He breathed his last this morning at Singapore General Hospital while he was under treatment. Nadi’s son in law Rajesh Shikdar has confirmed his death news to Barta 24.com. He died in the small hours of Tuesday (May 7) at 4.26 A.M. in the hospital.
Rajesh told Barta 24.com that his wife Falguni Nandi informed the death news of Subir Nandi over phone at 4.30 A.M. who is accompanying Subir Nandi in Singapore. The preparation of their return is going on but could not tell when they are coming back.
Subir Nandi on last April 12 went to his ancestral home Moulavibazar along with his family. But while he was returning back on April 14 he fell sick in the train. They all dropped at Airport railway station and Subir was admitted to Combined Military Hospital (CMH) where he was kept in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
While under treatment he was flown to Singapore in an air ambulance on last April 30. From then he was under treatment at Singapore General Hospital. He had been suffering from kidney and heart ailments for long time.
The much acclaimed singer Subir Nandi had sung more than 2500 songs in his long 40 years career as a singer. His first solo album ‘the songs of Subir Nandi’ came in the market in 1981 under disco recording banner. However he did his first play back in the film “Surjyagrahan’ in 1976 directed by Abdus Samad.
He got national film award four times for play back. In the current year he won the second highest civilian award ‘Ekushey Padak’ conferred by the Government of Bangladesh.
