Banani Fire claims nineteen lives so far
Dhaka, (Barta24): Fire accident in FR tower in Banani so far claimed nineteen lives as per the last report received. According to the sources of different hospitals, fire service and the place of occurrence it has been confirmed that about 70 people were wounded. The wounded persons were admitted to Kurmitola General hospital, Dhaka Medical college and other hospitals of the capital.
According to police and fire service sources, so far 19 were killed and the number of injured is uncounted still. One Sri Lankan national who tried to save his life by jumping from the multistoried building was killed.
The identity of seven dead were known as Abdullah Al Farook,32, Maksudur Rahman,66, Parvez Sajjad, 47, Amena Yasmin, 40, Mamun,36, Monir,50 and Sri Lankan national Nirosh Chandra. The identity of the rest 12 could not be known.
Fire service sources said that on Thursday(March28) noon at 12-50 the FR tower caught fire and soon the building was engulfed in smoke and deadly fire heat. Primarily it is assumed that the fire originated from Air Conditioner.
Fire service sources told that the fire originated from 9th floor and then spread in different floors. The floors from 8 to 10 were affected most.
However the fire was doused by the coordinated efforts of fire service, Armed Forces, Navy, Police, Air force and general people.
The stranded people tried utmost to save themselves seeking helps of outside by waving their hand.
Fire service used their latest and modern equipments to rescue the people.
