Following direct purchase system Food Ministry will purchase one crore hessian bags from Bangladesh Jute Mills Corportaion(BJMC)at an estimated cost of Taka 54 core. Such a proposal got nod on Wdnesday (May22) in a meeting of ministerial committee on purchase held at NEC conference room.
After the meeting Finance Minister AHM Mostofa Kamal informed this to the waiting journalists.
In reply to a question that the BJMC mills are mostly remain closed for many reasons in that case is BJMC has got the capacity to supply so huge quantity of bags, the Minister said that we are still paying salary to 44 thousand workers so I hope that one crore hessian bag production is possible.
The Minister informed that a solar power plant at Bera upazila in Pabna district with the capacity of producing 3.77 MW of electricity was given approval in the meeting. The plant will be built jointly by Mostofa Motor Ltd. and Solarland electric science and technology Ltd. Government will purchase electricity from the plant at the rate of Taka 8.59 per kilowatt hour for twenty years.
He further said that in the meeting a bridge at an estimated cost of Taka 136 crore will be constructed by MM Builders Ltd on river Dudhkumar connecting land port Bhitorband – Nageshwari road.
Government wants to supply surface water to Purbachal city. It was discussed in the meeting that from river Meghna water will be brought and would by supply to Purbachal city with necessary treatment. This project will be implemented on PPP basis by Rajuk.
