Minister for Environment, Forests and Climatic change Md. Shahbuddin MP called upon all to increase the forestation across the country to face the adverse impact of the climatic change. He laid tress on creating green belts by afforesation not only on fallow lands but also by river side, road side, roof of the house and on the balcony.
This Minister made this call while presiding over the meeting held on Sunday(May26)on finalizing the list of national award on forestation for 2018. The meeting held in the meeting room of the ministry was also attended by Deputy Minister for Environment, Forests and Climatic change Habibunnahar, Shamima Akhtar Khanom MP, Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof. Md. Akhtaruzzaman, Sher- e -Bangla Agriculture University VC Dr. Md. Kamaluddin Ahmed, the president of Environment Journalists Forum Kamrul Islam Chowdhury, Senior Reporter of the daily Kaler Kantha Nikhil Bhadra among others.
After finalizing the list of the recipients the Minister said that there is no alternative to afforestation all around the country to check the disastrous situation coming ahead for climatic change when the sea level will go high. It is only possible by growing forests, fruit bearing trees and herbal plants.
Deputy Minister stresses on creating green belts along the coastal areas to save us from the natural calamities like storm and tidal bore. She expressed her gratitude to them who have taken up the afforestation program in the saline area ignoring adverse environment.
