‘7-year-old child raped before murder’

The child, whose body was found in an under-construction building at Dhaka’s Wari was raped before being murdered, DMC forensic department confirmed after autopsy.

 “DNA test result and other examinations confirm that the victim, Samia Afrin Saima, was raped and then strangled with a rope,” Dr Sohel Mahmud, head of the DMC Forensic Medicine Department told reporters on Saturday.

The seven-year-old victim Afrin Saima, daughter of businessman Abdus Salam was the youngest among Salam's four children and a nursery student of Silverdale Preparatory & Girls High School at Wari.

Sayma was found dead on the eighth floor of an under construction building. She went missing for hours. Later, parents searched inside the unfinished flat and found her body around 9pm on Friday, Azizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Wari Police Station told Barta24.

Six people including the security guard of the building have been detained for interrogation, he added.

The victim's father has filed a case in this connection, he said.
