Hospitals get 1,096 more dengue patients in last 24hrs
Some 1,096 people suffering from dengue fever were hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours till 8am on Monday, showing a gradual rise in the number of such patients over the last several days.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the number of dengue patients was 824 on Sunday while 683 on Saturday, 603 on Friday and 547 on Thursday.
Currently, 3,847 dengue patients are being treated in hospitals across the country.
Health Ministry Control room In-Charge Ayesha Siddiqa told Barta24.com, “The dengue has now spread to 50 districts of the country.”
Data compiled by the Health Emergency Operation Centre, and Control Room of the DGHS said that some 3,847 patients were currently undergoing treatment for dengue.
From January 1 till the date, there have been 13,637 confirmed dengue cases. Eight of them have died as per the government’s count although the unofficial death toll is much higher.
Officials, however, said the numbers would be much higher as many cases remain unreported.
Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans when an infected Aedes mosquito bites them. It has no known cure or vaccine yet.
