‘Everything of my life is finished’
‘I was walking along the footpath. I don’t know how the vehicle ran me over. Everything of my life was finished within moments. What will happen to us now.’
On Saturday (August 31) afternoon leg amputee Krsihna Roy Chowdhury was telling about her woes lying on the bed of a cabin at National Institute of Trauma and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).
Lying on hospital bed Krishna cannot think that she has lost her an important organ! Life will not go in a natural way!
He son Koushik Roy Chowdhury is with her in the hospital. Kowshik said that his mother was the only the source of income in their family of four. His father retired much ago as a teacher. He and his only sister are studying now. All expenditure was met with his mother’s income. We are feeling very helpless, he said.
Kowshik told barta24.com that after the accident one leg of her mother was amputed. Now the primary treatment is going on after amputation. The operation spot is not good. Infection may develop any moment.
He made a fervent appeal to all to stand by their side. My mother will not be able to walk normally. She will be required an artificial limb, we are demanding that artificial leg to help my mother to walk. We have no capacity to arrange so much money for having an artificial leg.
Husband of Krishna Roy, Radheshwam Chowdhury told barta24.com that we will not get back the leg of my wife. But we want justice. Police could not arrest either the driver or the helper of the bus in last four days. The bus authority came to us with Taka 2 lakh to compromise the matter. But we refused to take the money. Because is it a matter to compromise? We want that the offender get punished. We don’t want money; we want the cooperation of the government. We want justice for us.
It may be mentioned here that on last Tuesday (August 27) during noon time Krsihna Roy Chowdhury faced an accident near Banglamotor area when she was knocked down by a bus of Trust Paribanhan. She was working in the post of Assistant Manager (finance) of Bangladesh Inland Water transport Corporation (BIWTC). After the accident she was taken to Dhaka Medical College hospital. From there she was shifted to NITOR where her one leg was amputed. Her treatment is going on now.
