Bangladeshi migrants demand withdrawl of titles of Bangabandhu's killers
Two self- confessed and death sentence awarded convicts of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are still enjoying the honor of their titles of liberation war as found in the web site of Liberation War ministry and Wikipedia. Of the two one is Captain Noor Chowdhury ‘Bir Bikram’ now hiding in Canada and the other is fugitive Major Shariful Haque Dalim ‘Bir Uttam’ whose titles are still in tact.
Though the highest court has convicted them to death sentence but their titles of heroism is still to be cancelled. Whereas on charge of violation of human rights in Myanmar several titles and honors awarded to Aung Sun Suchi were stripped off.
Twelve Bangladeshi migrants in Canada who are writers, journalists, teachers, artist, lawyers and cultural activists have requested the government to cancel the titles of these two killers.
They are – Lutfar Rahman Riton, Dr. Mojammel Khan, Saifullah Mahmud Dulal, Suman Rahman, Barrister Kamrul Hafiz, Dinu Billah, Rakib Hassan, Nahar Monika, Ahmed Hossain, Monish Rafiq, Zakir and George Roy.
In a statement they said that we are surprised to know that the titles of the most hated killers of history are still retained. It is urgent to withdraw their titles and honor for the sake of the dignity of the title, dignity of the state, dignity of liberation war and also dignity of Bangabandhu.
It is learnt that an initiative to withdraw their titles of these two master minds of 1975 tragedy was taken in 2017 but it is not implemented till now.
