Khaleda Zia's counsels issue legal notice to six for disallowing sign in legal papers
BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s counsels have served six people by a legal notice for not allowing her to sign on her power of attorney.
Barrister Kaiser Kamal served the notice to the home secretary, Dhaka deputy commissioner, the police chief, the inspector general of prison and superintendant of Keraniganj Central Jail on Tuesday.
The notice made warning of legal steps if she isn’t allowed to sign the documents within 48 hours.
“Khaleda Zia has been in prison for a long time now and she is continuously being deprived of her legal rights,” said Barrister Kamal.
Khaleda Zia wasn’t permitted to sign the power of attorney without which a prisoner cannot be represented in court and according to our constitution one have right to sign legal documents.
The BNP chief is serving a 17-year jail term for her involvement in the Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases. She is now on treatment at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.
