Awami League Leaders were involved in the Bangabandhu killing, not former President Ziaur Rahman, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said.
The BNP Secretary General made the comment after attending Jatiyatabadi Shechhashebok Dal’s anniversary program on Monday.
Fakhrul lambasted Awami League leaders’ allegations of ‘Ziaur Rahman was involved in the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahaman’.
Mirza Fakhrul said: ‘’Awami League have been distorting the history for long. Ziaur Rahman is the announcer of independence and by no means, he was involved with any kind of killings.”
“The killers were the Awami League leaders who later formed government and went to the parliament, “he added.
The BNP secretary general spoke to the journalists after paying homage to the grave of BNP founder and former President Ziaur Rahman along with party's leaders and activists.
