Tigers left Dhaka for Sri Lanka 3-match ODI series with opener Tamim Iqbal as interim captain as regular skipper Mashrafe Mortaza was ruled out with a hamstring injury.

BCB named Tamim as interim captain in Mashrafe's absence as regular vice-captain Shakib Al Hasan was rested for the series.

Before departing for Sri Lanka ODI-series, Tamim said: “I think it is a very important series for us. The team that are touring, have a lot to prove. A number of experienced players are not going due to injuries and different other reasons.

“I think this will be a very challenging series for us. Sri Lanka are a very strong side in their home condition. But we played well in the last few series. So there are no reasons why we can not do well in this series,” the ace opener also said.

Mashrafe picked up the injury during a training session shortly after he attended Bangladesh team's formal press conference in Mirpur ahead of the tour.
