45 percent people of Dhaka city are infected from Corona

Dhaka: Forty-five percent of the people in the capital have been infected with the coronavirus. 24 percent of the victims are over 60 years of age.

The study was released on Monday (October 12) afternoon at a hotel in the capital's Gulshan area. The researchers found this data in antibody tests until last July.

The study was jointly conducted by the government's Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) and the private International Center for DiarrheaL Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDRB).

Additional Director General of the Department of Health (Planning and Development) Professor Mirzadi Sebrina chaired on line function was joined by health minister Zahid Maleque.

Out of 129 wards of Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporation, 25 wards were selected for the study on random basis. A mahalla was selected from each ward. 120 houses from each mahalla were included in the survey. In addition, 8 slums were included in the survey. Samples of common mahallas in Dhaka city were collected from mid-April to mid-July. Samples of slum dwellers were collected from mid-July to the end of August.

Researchers estimated that the first coronavirus infection in the country occurred in mid-February.

According to the study, about three-quarters of the people in the slums of Dhaka city have already been infected. A blood test found that 45 percent of city dwellers who had no symptoms of corona were infected with corona.
