Dhaka, (Barta24.com): In the next budget there will be provisions of encouragement for manufacturing cars and motor bikes in the country told by NBR chairman Md. Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan. He also assured to consider the demands of reducing the registration fees.
On Thursday (April 18) in a pre-budget discussion held at the NBR conference room in his presidential he said all these.
In the discussion motor cycle manufacturers and exporters association, Bangladesh goods transportat owners association, Bangladesh inland container depot association, Bangladesh inland water transport authority, Bangladesh motor parts and tire tube trade association representatives took part in the discussion.
Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan said that motor bike productions have started in our country about 10-12 years back. However we brought tremendous change in this sector. Now Runner group is manufacturing motor bikes. Hero Honda and Bajaj are also manufacturing bikes here. So, the production of such large number of variety of bikes will be exported after meeting the local demand. This will help expansion of motor bike market. We also encourage in creating markets abroad.
Simultaneously we will encourage manufacture of cars in the country as incentives were given to motor bike production, he mentioned. We have drafted a policy in the manufacture of cars. Those who will come forward in this sector they will get this facility, he assured.
With the overall progress of the country now mobile phone, motor bikes, refrigerators are being produced in the country. I hope that manufacture of cars will start soon. Our workshops should survive to meet the requirements. We will consider their demands.
Regarding the demands of the aviation sector NBR chairman said that this sector is in problem with fuel. If we don’t help them in any way then this sector will not survive. Many of them cannot make payments of VAT.
Due to uneven competition in the market they are facing acute problems and added that definitely the air fare should be higher than train or bus.
In respect to the demand of Ship owners association, the NBR chairman said that in ship building we are satisfactorily advanced. We have given many incentives in this sector. But problem lies in the fact that many unidentified companies are building ships and selling those rampantly. As they are not identified we are being deprived of revenue. They will be brought under the purview of legal procedure after identifying them.
He said that I have discussed with many sectors. If we get regular VAT from all sectors then the amount of VAT will increase. We must give attentions to that matter. We will also look so that the business runs in a proper way.
