Two doses of the corona vaccine protect about 98 percent of patients infected with the virus from death. One dose of protection there is about 92 percent. The government of India said this on Saturday, citing a study conducted on the Punjab police.
According to an NDTV report, the study was conducted jointly by the Punjab government and the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh.
Member of the Government Research Institute NITI Commission (Health) said. Presenting information from the study, VK Paul said that out of 4,868 policemen who did not get corona vaccine, 15 died of the disease. In other words, the death rate among the police members who have not been vaccinated is 3.08 per thousand.
VK Paul further said in a press conference that out of 35,856 policemen who received one dose of vaccine, 9 died due to corona. In other words, among the vaccinated policemen, the death rate in Corona is 0.25 per thousand. Of the 42,720 policemen who received two doses of the vaccine, only two died in Corona. As such, the mortality rate between two doses of vaccine is 0.05 per thousand.
VK Paul said police members are at high risk of being infected with corona. The study was conducted among them. The study found that those who received a single dose of the vaccine had a 92 percent lower risk of dying from corona and those who received a two-dose vaccine had a 98 percent lower risk.
The researchers said that the results of such studies show that the vaccine reduces the risk of serious illness and death. So it is necessary to have confidence in the effectiveness of the vaccine.
