Al-Shifa, the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip in northern Gaza, has run out of oxygen and water. The director of the hospital, Muhammad Abu Salmiya, said that the patients were screaming out of thirst.
The British media BBC reported this information in a report on Thursday (November 16).
Muhammad Abu Salmiya said the situation at Al-Shifa Hospital was dire, where there were currently more than 650 patients, 500 medical staff and more than 5,000 displaced people.
He said Israeli tanks still surrounded the hospital, drones hovered overhead and Israeli soldiers roamed inside the hospital.
In a statement, Muhammad Abu Salmiya said that the Israeli forces blew up the main water line of al-Shifa. Sniping operations continue, no one can move from one building to another and we have lost contact with our colleagues.
Gaza's Hamas-controlled health ministry also said Israeli bulldozers destroyed parts of the southern entrance to the medical complex.
Israel's military said its operation against Hamas is systematic and thorough. However, a journalist trapped inside the hospital told the BBC by phone that Israeli soldiers were firing everywhere, in all directions.
However, the BBC could not independently verify his statement.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched an operation in Al-Shifa in Gaza City early on Wednesday and released several photos and videos showing Hamas weapons and equipment inside the hospital.
The Israel Defense Forces said on Thursday it had found a vehicle with a large number of weapons at Al-Shifa Hospital. The IDF said the body of one of the hostages was found near Al-Shifa Hospital.
The IDF identified the victim as Yehudit Weiss Said, he was abducted from his home in Beiri.
The international press said that basically Israel is trying to take control of the hospital. That is why the Israeli army entered there under the pretext of having Hamas infrastructure.
Thousands of civilians have sought refuge in Al-Shifa hospital since the Israeli army's attack on Gaza. But when Israeli forces approached the hospital with tanks, many fled. However, when they tried to leave the hospital for the past two or three days, the Israeli soldiers attacked them with drones and shot at them.
