Indian illegal immigrants are being sent back from the US in a military plane. It is reported that a US military C-17 aircraft has left for India with several Indians.
This information was published in a report by Indian media NDTV on Tuesday (February 4).
The report said that illegal Indian immigrants are being sent back from the US. An official, who did not want to be named, said that a flight of immigrants has left for India in a military C-17 aircraft. It will take 24 hours to reach. However, no answers have been received yet on which US state the plane took off from, where in India it will land and how many Indians are on the plane.
Officials said that initially it has been decided to send back 18,000 Indian undocumented immigrants. They are the first batch to be taken on the plane.
The US Department of Defense (Pentagon) has also started flights to deport more than 5,000 migrants detained in El Paso, Texas, and San Diego, California.
Migrants have already been sent back to Guatemala, Peru, and Honduras by military aircraft. However, sending migrants back by military aircraft is expensive.
According to a Reuters report, it costs at least 4,675 dollars per person to send migrants back to Guatemala by military aircraft last week.
It is worth noting that during the November 2024 presidential election, Republican candidate and former US President Donald Trump announced that he would rid the United States of illegal immigrants if he comes to power. In light of this, President Donald Trump is seeking military assistance in the steps the United States has taken to send back illegal immigrants from the United States. This includes deploying additional troops to the US-Mexico border, using military aircraft, and keeping migrants in military bases.
