PM stresses on patriotism and spirit of liberation war in Armed Forces
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed those who believe in the spirit of patriotism and liberation war to give them responsibility. She said if the believers in the spirit of the liberation war get the responsibility, they will be able to take the country forward in the future.
The Prime Minister said this in a directional speech on the occasion of the Armed Forces Selection Board-2020 on Monday (September 7). The Prime Minister said this through a video conference from Ganobhaban.
The Prime Minister said that you have to judge whether those who can do well in the field, command, qualify to lead or have the mentality to make quick decisions are not the only ones to get high marks in the register.
She said, we have liberated this country in exchange for the blood of millions of martyrs. I can't let the blood of martyrs go in vain. Those who believe in the spirit of our liberation war, those who believe in the sovereignty and independence of Bangladesh's, those who believe in the development of Bangladesh must follow that ideal. Those who will be patriotic and believe in the spirit of the liberation war should get the responsibility so that they can take Bangladesh forward in the right way in the future.
The Prime Minister said the armed forces are the symbol of our country's sovereignty. May they move forward with that consciousness while maintaining their dignity? We have mobilized our armed forces keeping an eye on everything and we are taking such measures. At the same time, we have set up specialized educational institutions so that all of us get all kinds of training. We want to build an armed force with modern knowledge. And that is our goal.
We want you to select those who will be promoted in the future to the Selection Board of our Armed Forces. At present, through the modern method of promotion of the officers of the Armed Forces, i.e. Trace Tabulated Record and Comparative Evaluation, you make a decision by comparatively evaluating the skills of those who are eligible for promotion. At the same time, you must consider all those officers who have succeeded in providing competent leadership in various activities in the military life. That's what I want. And any officer or officer must give priority to their promotion in terms of their professional quality, their qualifications and their skills.
She said the armed forces are a disciplined force. Those who will be promoted in this disciplined force can continue to maintain a discipline at all times because discipline is the backbone of every organization of our armed forces. So those who are sufficiently aware of discipline, loyal, should be loyal to those who are above, and responsible for their subordinates.
Present at the time, Bangladesh Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed, Prime Minister's Office - Chief Secretary Dr. Ahmed Kaikaus and other officials in the Prime Minister's Office.
