The price of onion has already started rising in the country's market. The price has increased from Taka 25 to Taka 30 per kg in a week. In this situation, the highest quantity of onion will be imported this year, breaking the all-time record, said Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi.

The price of onion has already gone up in our market as well as in India, he said. Therefore, a record amount of onions will be imported this year. If necessary, the duty on onion import will be reduced by 5 percent.

A three-member delegation led by the Hungarian Foreign Minister met Tipu Munshi at the Commerce Minister's own office in the Secretariat on Thursday. He said this at the end of the meeting.

The Commerce Minister said several teams from the Commerce Ministry would visit the import sites, such as Benapole and Hili. There you will see the status of import. Prices have risen a little in the market.

There have been supply problems due to the floods.
