Freedom fighter Omar Ali Shaikh, father of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam, who was attacked at a government residence at Ghoraghat in Dinajpur, has been sent to Dhaka for better treatment.

On Saturday (September 12) at 10 pm, an ambulance of City Corporation left Rangpur Medical College (RMC) Hospital for Dhaka.

A source said that he will be admitted in the Neuroscience Institute of Dhaka.

Meanwhile, the doctors of RMC said that the lower part of Omar Ali Sheikh's waist was completely paralyzed. Although he can talk and eat, he cannot move. He needs advanced treatment for his speedy recovery.

Earlier on Thursday night, UNO Wahida Khanam's father Omar Ali Sheikh was taken from the 5th floor neurosurgery ward of RMC Hospital to the VIP cabin on the third floor.

Incidentally, last Wednesday (September 2) the miscreants entered the official residence of UNO Wahida Khanam at Ghoraghat Upazila Parishad premises. They hacked UNO Wahida Khanam and her father Omar Ali Sheikh and severely injured them with hammers. UNO Wahida Khanam, who was seriously injured in the incident, is now being treated in Dhaka.
