UN should formulate a road map to address various global problem
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the United Nations should formulate a credible and effective roadmap to address various challenges around the world. At the same time, she said the UN should not be weakened by geopolitical conflicts.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina made the remarks in a recorded speech on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the United Nations on Tuesday (September 22) at 4am Bangladesh time.
Sheikh Hasina said many times in history have come as a moment of change in the path of human civilization. The 75th anniversary of the United Nations is another such moment.
She also mentioned the role of Bangladesh in the UN peacekeeping mission.
The Prime Minister said Bangladesh is currently in the top position in deploying army and police personnel in peacekeeping missions. More than 150 Bangladeshi peacekeepers have sacrificed their lives to uphold peace in conflict-torn countries.
Referring to the global challenge of the Corona situation, she said, ‘The current crisis, including the pandemic, has made the achievement of Vision 2030 even more challenging.’ In addition, this pandemic has brought to the fore the crisis in the international arena. At the same time, the pandemic has shown that developed and developing countries need the United Nations more than ever before. It has been proven that multilateralism is the only way forward.
