Full verdict of Rifat murder case is ready
Death sentence facing Ayesha Siddqua Minni's father Mozammel Hossain Kishore has received a copy of the 423-page full verdict of the death sentence of six accused including Minni in the sensational Rifat Sharif murder case in Barguna. It has been said that the main culprit of this murder is Ayesha Siddique Minni, wife of Rifat.
A copy of the full verdict was picked up from the Barguna District and Sessions Judge's Court around 6pm on Saturday (October 3). Shortly after the death sentence was announced on Wednesday, September 30, Minni's father applied to the same court for a copy of the verdict.
Minni's lawyer Mahbubul Bari Aslam said, "I have received a copy of the verdict." Minni's signature has also been taken from the jail through the jail authorities to apply to the higher court. An appeal will be filed in the higher court tomorrow.
Minni's father Mozammel Hossain told Kishore Barta24.com that he has received a full 423-page copy of the verdict of 8 accused including Minni. I have left for Dhaka to appeal to the High Court. My daughter is completely innocent. My daughter has been made the main hota. I will be able to acquit Minni through appeal.
According to Barguna court sources, the death references of 6 convicts including Minni will reach the High Court in time. Work is underway to prepare all the documents including the verdict for the death reference of the accused. After the receipt of the document, the Death Reference Branch of the High Court will examine and prepare the paper book of the case. As a rule, all proceedings in the case are referred to the High Court for approval of the death penalty. The accused will be able to appeal within seven days after the verdict comes to the High Court. Basically, if an accused is sentenced to death, it requires the approval of the High Court to carry it out, which is known as a death reference case. However, the convicts will have the opportunity to appeal and jail against the verdict of the trial court.
Earlier, Barguna District and Sessions Judge Md. Asaduzzaman read the short order of the sentence. Ashaduzzaman sentenced six people, including Ayesha Siddique Minni, the victim's wife, to death in the Rifat Sharif murder case. The accused that were sentenced to death along with Minni are- Rifat Faraji, Al Qayyum alias Rabbi Akon, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, Rezwan Ali Khan Hridoy alias Tiktak Hridoy and Md. Hassan. Each of the convicts has been fined Taka 50,000. Musa, Rafiul Islam Rabbi, Md. Sagar and Kamrul Islam alias Simun were acquitted.
