Swechchasebak League leader hacked to death in Gouripur

Gouripur (Mymenshing): Gauripur Upazilla Swechchhasebak League general secretary and chairman of the Gauripur branch of the Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) Masudur Rahman Shuvra was hacked to death by terrorist. 

On Saturday (October 18) night, three people, including Masudur Rahman Shuvro, were hacked to death and seriously injured by terrorists. Later that night, Masudur Rahman Shuvro died after being taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. He is a resident of Kalipur area of Gauripur municipality.

 According to local and police sources, some people including Masudur Rahman Shuvro were having tea at Abdur Rahim's tea shop in Pan Mahal area of Madhya Bazar around 10pm on Saturday. At that time a group of terrorists came to the spot and attacked them. As soon as Masudur Rahman Shuvro ran in front of Sumitra Pharmacy in self-defense, the terrorists hacked him with sharp weapons and seriously injured her. Al-Amin and Jahangir, two associates of Masudur Rahman Shuvro were also injured in the attack.

Police and locals rescued them and took them to the Upazilla Health Complex. The on-duty doctor referred the three injured to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Later that night, Masudur Rahman Shuvro died while undergoing treatment.

Mymensingh Medical College Hospital emergency department doctor Ashesh Kumar Roy has confirmed the death of Masudur Rahman Shuvro.

Gauripur police officer in charge (OC) Borhan Uddin said that after receiving the news, the police visited the spot. Police have been deployed in the town. An operation is underway to nab those involved in the killings.
