Dhaka: A few hours after being declared dead at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), the newborn Maryam, who was rescued alive during the burial at the graveyard, finally died. She was undergoing treatment in the ICU of DMCH.

Bachchu Mia, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost, confirmed the matter on Wednesday (October 21) night.

He said the newborn, who was rescued alive during the burial, died in the ICU around 11:40 pm.

It is learned that bus driver Yasin brought his pregnant wife Shahinur Begum to DMCH on October 14. She was admitted to ward 212 of Gynee department. At that time, Maryam was born prematurely. But doctors declared her dead as she showed no signs of alive after birth. Later, her father Yasin took her to the Intellectual graveyard of Rayerbazar for burial. At the end of digging the grave, the baby cried and moved. Then she was brought to Dhaka Medical College again. The child was then admitted to the ICU of the hospital in critical condition.

Meanwhile, the DMCH hospital authorities formed an investigation committee for declaring the living child dead and issuing a death certificate. According to the report of the committee, the director of DMCH blamed the failure of their own doctors and hospitals for the incident. However, he also said that it was not intentional.

Earlier (October 20), doctors told a news conference that a baby is not born before 28 weeks. This baby was 26 weeks old. There was no breathing movement after the baby was born. Then after waiting for a while, the doctors gave the death certificate. But if the baby really survives, it will be a miracle.
