Quader terms Prime Minister’s speech as an objective document of achievements
Awami League General Secretary and Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader has said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's address to the nation is an objective document of enviable development and achievements of the last 12 years.
She said the speech reflected the real picture that emerged from the daily lives of the people. In this, the outline of building a prosperous Bangladesh in the continuity of development has also blossomed.
He was speaking at a press conference at his official residence here on Friday in response to BNP leaders' untrue statements about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's address to the nation on Thursday.
Stating that the Prime Minister's speech was timely and directional, the General Secretary of the Awami League said, this speech gives a brief picture of the country's unimaginable development, progress and visible progress in the socio-economic and other sectors in the last one century.
The Minister of Road Transport and Bridges said that the per capita income in 2008 was only 625 dollar, and now the per capita income stands at 2,084 dollar. The poverty rate has now dropped from 41.5 to 20 percent and the extreme poverty rate from 22 percent to 11 percent.
Obaidul Quader said power generation was only 3,300 megawatts during the BNP rule, adding that about 19,000 megawatts of electricity was added to the national grid from 2009 to 2020 after the formation of the Awami League government. At present, the daily power generation capacity stands at 24,421 MW.
He said the BNP, after being repeatedly rejected by the people, was engaged in a conspiracy to mislead the people through lies and deprive them of the benefits of government development.
Obaidul Quader said all sectors of the government were immersed in corruption due to the misrule of BNP-Jamaat. The people of the country no longer want to go back to the death valley of the BNP misrule.
