Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for gifting 20 lakh doses of Covishield (Oxford-AstraZeneca)vaccine.

The Prime Minister said, ‘The coronavirus vaccine, which we received as a gift from India, has arrived. I thank the Prime Minister of India for this. "

She thanked Modi at the inaugural function of the International Conference on the occasion of the centenary of Dhaka University on Thursday (January 21) evening.

Sheikh Hasina said, "What we bought with money will arrive on the 25th or 26th. We have made all preparations to deal with the Covid-19 situation in the country. I have planned everything about how this vaccine will be given.

Earlier, a plane carrying 20 lakh doses of coronavirus vaccine arrived in Dhaka from India at around 11-20 am on Thursday. Air India special flights brought these vaccines. The vaccine was handed over by Indian Ambassador Vikram Doraiswamy at a function at the state guest house Padma at noon. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, Health Minister Zahid Malek, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohammad Shahriar Alam and other officials of the concerned ministry were present on the occasion.
